چکیده

conclusions large-scale studies on the healthy black african population could assess the relationship between diastolic dyssynchrony and changes in myocardial performance related to racial differences. results the frequency of some dyssynchrony markers was similar to that of other studies. the difference between maximal time-to-peak systolic velocity and minimal time-to-peak systolic velocity was correlated with age and was higher among women. the prevalence of diastolic dyssynchrony was higher in black african subjects. patients and methods fifty healthy black african were enrolled consecutively over a period of 3 months. time-to-peak systolic velocities (ts) and time-to-peak early diastolic velocities (te) were measured at the four basal segments of left ventricle. five dyssynchrony markers were assessed: difference between maximal time-to-peak systolic velocity and minimal time-to-peak systolic velocity, time between septal time-to-peak systolic velocity and lateral time-to peak systolic velocity, standard deviation of time-to-peak systolic velocity of the four basal segments, difference between maximal time-to-peak early diastolic velocity and minimal time-to-peak early diastolic velocity, and standard deviation of time-to-peak early diastolic velocity of the four basal segments. objectives the purpose of this study was to measure time-to-peak of systolic and diastolic velocities of different segments of left ventricle and apply ventricular dyssynchrony markers to healthy black african subjects. background tissue doppler is a promising method that allows the measurement of time of systolic and diastolic tissue velocities. ventricular dyssynchrony was assessed in patients with heart failure. in sub-saharan africa, very few studies have focused on ventricular dyssynchrony in healthy subjects.

Evaluation of left ventricular dyssynchrony using combined pulsed wave and tissue Doppler imaging

INTRODUCTION The combination of pulsed wave (PW) and tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) has been proposed as a new method to assess left ventricular (LV) mechanical dyssynchrony (LVMD), but results have not been validated. We investigated the correlation of a combination of PW and TDI with a positive response to cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). MATERIAL AND METHODS We studied 108 consecutiv...

Age-related intramyocardial patterns in healthy subjects evaluated with Doppler tissue imaging.

BACKGROUND The aim of this study is to analyse spatial distribution of myocardial velocities (MV) and myocardial velocity gradient (MVG) with color M-mode Doppler tissue imaging (DTI) and to analyse the influence of age in such parameters. METHODS AND RESULTS A prospective study including 66 healthy volunteers was carried out with color M-mode DTI. Postprocessing of images was performed using...

Characterisation of left ventricular function by tissue Doppler imaging technique in newly diagnosed, untreated hypertensive subjects

BACKGROUND Hypertension results in structural and functional changes in the heart. Early detection of abnormalities of cardiac structure and function is important in the assessment and treatment of hypertensive subjects. The aim of this study was to evaluate the utility of the tissue Doppler echocardiographic technique in characterising diastolic and systolic functions in untreated native black...

Pulsed tissue Doppler imaging of the left ventricular septal mitral annulus in healthy dogs

This study evaluated pulsed TDI variables including the isovolumic time interval and duration of the major wave in a population of large healthy dogs. Longitudinal myocardial motion at the septal mitral annulus was evaluated with pulsed TDI in 45 healthy adult dogs. Maximal myocardial velocities, isovolumic time intervals, and duration of the myocardial waves were measured. The correlation betw...

Disturbed right ventricular diastolic function in patients with systemic sclerosis: a Doppler tissue imaging study.

BACKGROUND Cardiopulmonary involvement in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) carries a poor prognosis, mainly due to pulmonary hypertension and right-heart failure. To date, right ventricular (RV) involvement has not been studied in detail. We therefore assessed RV function in patients with SSc and related the findings to the clinical features of the disease. METHOD Twenty-six consecutive...

Evaluation of left ventricular function in obese children without hypertension by a tissue Doppler imaging study

Background The prevalence of obesity is increasing worldwide. Obese children without hypertension are becoming an important health challenge. Aims Complications of obesity in adults are well established, but in obese children, cardiac dysfunction has not been reported clinically. Settings and Design The present crosssectional study investigates subclinical systolic and diastolic dysfunction...
